With a background in meat judging, one probably wouldn't expect much from Athens, GA-based singer/songwriter Jason Harwell. But this young 28 yr old has done some amazing things since giving up the glitz and glam of meat judging to pursue a career in music.
Drawing media comparisons to songwriters such as Ryan Adams, Matthew Sweet, David Gray, and Tom Petty, Jason's brand of folk/pop/Americana has earned a little critical recognition as well; Jason has placed as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, a finalist in the Independent Music Awards, and overall grand prize winner in the International Acoustic Music Awards.
Jason also started his own non profit recording company called "Rebuilt Records" also based in his home, Athens, GA.
In early 2006, we were looking for original music to put into the movie we were working on "A Moment with You". Through webpages and clicking here and there, we came upon Jason, loved his music and sent him an email asking if we could use his music. Without hesitation Jason graciously granted us permission and all his songs "Can I Wait", "Somewhere the Sun", and "Lovely Shade of you" became the hits of the "AMY" soundtrack.
Since then, Jason and WF have kept in contact, supporting his amazing and meaningful music. Wong Fu hopes to be shooting a music video for one of his songs when both schedules work out.
